Sunny was closely involved with the development of tools and processes for effective service delivery. He started his career with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd, where he led the business and operations initiatives for a large-scale insurance provider in USA. Post TCS, as a 2010 Teach for India corps member, Sunny taught third and fourth grade students in Pune, India. He joined v-shesh after working at Center for Development Finance (CDF) , a research and advisory group, where he worked on developmental issues of renewable energy, affordable housing and healthcare. He earned his BE in Electronics(Instrumentation and Control) from Thapar University. He is currently pursuing his MBA at INSEAD, Paris.
Bhavini Modi is a student of Bachelors in Business Management Program at ADET (All Deaf Education Technology). She is passionate about teaching English to the deaf and has been teaching Basic English for over 5 years, first at Ishara Foundation and then at v-shesh. She had been involved with content development and training in Mumbai and was part of the team that developed the curriculum for advanced English program. Bhavini is actively involved with The Deaf Club at National Institute for the Hearing Handicapped (NIHH) and was the Convener for Registration for The India Deaf Expo 2012.
Susmitha is a Masters in Mass Communication & Journalism and BA Corporate Secretaryship. Prior to joining v-shesh, sh had worked in Dina Malar as Advertisement Executive and at ICICI Bank as Front Office Executive. She speak 5 Indian Languages and know Sign Language. She enjoys interacting with people and counseling students and job-seekers.
Priyanka Kalyan is a graduate in Bachelor of Commerce from Bangalore University. She worked as a Lecturer and Interpreter in a pre-university college for three years. Later, she completed her Diploma in Indian Sign Language Interpretation from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for the hearing impaired at Mumbai. She is also a free lance interpreter and works as an advisory for KSFD Association. At v-shesh, she was the lead trainer at the Bangalore Center, and also conducted various types of corporate training programs for the hearing impaired.
Laxmidhar Sahoo (Lax) has extensive experience in financial services and financial inclusion having worked at grass-root level with SREI group and ICICI Group. Laxmidhar has completed his MBA in Banking and Finance, and is a science graduate from Utkal University in Orrisa and is one of v-shesh’s earliest team members. Lax has executed various projects including v-shesh’s first Learn and Earn programme with a respected employer in Bhubaneswar. He has also worked on short term customised training programmes for orthopedically challenged job seekers in Bhubaneswar. Executing one of v-shesh’s initiative – Lax identified off-grid schools (and their 2200+ students) in Odisha that were supported by v-shesh solar lanterns (jan 2012) and then books (August 2012)
Prashant completed his Bachelors in Arts from Amravati University and joined Pratham in 2004 as a trainer for basic English, Maths and Hindi. Thereafter he took over as District Co-ordinator, where he co-ordinated teacher training and volunteer programs. While with Pratham, he was also involved on a part time basis with Aser, Annual Status of Education Report as a trainer cum administrator. At v-shesh, Prashant has been involved with Microfinance training and surveys for our partner organizations. Since the last one year, Prashant has played a lead role in setup of the Bhopal and Indore centers which provides employability training for persons with disabilities and placements for them across different locations.
Annu Gautam is pursuing a Masters in Sociology at IGNOU, and has a Diploma in Indian Sign Language from Ali Yavar Jung National Institute. She had once seen two deaf individuals signing and was intrigued by them and wanted to communicate with them, which led to her diploma in sign language. She joined v-shesh in March’14 and has been leading all training and placement related initiatives with the deaf. She is very keen on assisting: a) Deaf who are creative and lack avenues to showcase their work and earn money, and b) Deaf women who are unable to work post marriage.
Davinder Singh aka Sardar ji is the first deaf member of the Delhi team. He has always dreamt of helping deaf children build a bright future for themselves. He heard about v-shesh from some friends in Jharkhand, and took the first train to Delhi. He joined us as a volunteer to begin with, and now is a permanent faculty. He has been instrumental in helping many deaf graduates seek suitable opportunities in companies such as RBS, HDFC ERGO , MERCER etc. He is keen on working with deaf children and helping them build a strong foundation of Mathematics so that they don’t have to struggle later.
Dayaprasad Malviya has completed his Masters in Social Work from Indore DAV College. He has 2 years of work experience; 1 year with Eposh Health India Survey Company (Jan 2010 – Dec 2011) and 1 year with Enable India as Center-in-Charge from Feb, 2011 to April, 2011. He has also worked part time for 3 months, with Zila Panchayat to mobilize the village people for the Samagra Swacchata Abhiyan. Daya joined v-shesh Bhopal in Mar, 2012 for training cum center work. He has played a key role in training deaf students at Indore and has also been involved in mobilizing, training and placing some of our deaf candidates at Delhi, Pune and Kandla.
Mona Shah Jena was working as an Indian sign Language instructor at Ali Yavar Jung National Institute for hearing impaired at Mumbai for the past 3 years. She is also the Vice President of Yuva Association for the Deaf (Est.2010), and an executive member of the Khurda District Association of the Deaf. Mona herself is hearing impaired and married to a deaf as well. With over a decade of teaching experience, Mona is involved with training and placement of deaf at the Bhubaneshwar Center. She is very popular and loved among the deaf and they always turn to her for support and guidance.
Vivek Srinivasan N has a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He started his career at Larsen & Toubro Ltd (Mumbai) but soon moved to Cummins Engines Inc, a global leader in Diesel Engines, where he worked for six years. For three academic years, he had been part of a volunteering service called “Book Buddies”, helping young children (2nd and 3rd grade students) improve their reading skills, at a local county school. At v-shesh, Vivek works on process development, content improvement and occasionally helps solve problems in mathematics.
